FCG 2003B Place 3rd in Cinco de Mayo Tournament

The 2003B represented themselves well in their first tournament as an organized team.  Tournament play is different than league play in that teams are often hand selected and include guest players from various clubs and organizations.

In speaking with a tournament official, we learned the Cinco de Mayo tournament opens enrollment to  "underground" teams - teams who are organized but not officially part of the Colorado Youth Soccer Association.  This same official also noted the high level of competition in the 2003B division as she pulled the bracket together.

Day 1 saw our boys jump out to an early positive result with a 6-1 win over their opponent.

Day 2's opponents were strong.  The morning game paired FC with the number 1 ranked 2003 boys team in Colorado.  The afternoon game paired FC with another well trained opponent.  FC was defeated in both matches.  Both teams faced this day would eventually place 1st and 2nd in the tournament.

Though losing is never enjoyable, it does give players an opportunity to learn more about the game, and about themselves.  Lessons learned well will change a player and team's approach to their next training session and game.

Well done FCG 2003 boys!
